Unexplained Mysteries – John Titor

For decades, there always seems to be great fascination and interest with fictitious novels and movies concerning time travel. However, after recent discussions over the last few years, there have been scientific reports indicating that such travel might not be all fiction with suggestions that it may be possible for one-way-travel into the future through the phenomenon of time dilation, based on the theory of relativity. However, there isn’t the same support for the idea that an individual could travel backwards in time, with some suggesting that parallel universes within a multiverse would be encountered.

However, in January 2000, a person by the name of John Titor, started posting numerous messages on internet bulletin boards claiming to be a time-traveller from the year 2036. The first Titor message appeared on the Time Travel Institute web forums, and after announcing who he was, Titor started discussing his experiences and what was needed while travelling through time. He even posted images of his time travel device and a manual describing the technical aspects of his machine. After questions flowed onto the web, asking Titor where he came from and why he was travelling through time, he replied with an array of personal information.

Titor claimed to be an American soldier from 2036, based at a military fort in Florida and part of a government time-travel project. He had been sent back to the year1975 to retrieve an IBM 5100 computer that was needed back in his time to debug various computer programs. He said he was given the assignment because his grandfather was directly involved with the original programming of the IBM 5100. However, he decided to stop over during his trip in the year 2000, as he wanted to visit distant relatives and collect family photographs prior to the civil war. After Titor was asked about the civil war, he explained that it occurred in 2004 after a number of civil disturbances and erupted into a full civil war by 2008, and after it finished in 2015, America was broken up into five zones. However, later in 2015, World War III started with Russia launching nuclear strikes against major US cities, but the US retaliated and in the end the EU and China were devastated. The war was caused by border clashes and overpopulation in a number of third world countries. Titor made a number of other revelations concerning black holes in space and the disruption of the 2004 Olympics.

After Titor messages abruptly ceased in March 2001, many people on the internet disputed Titor stories of time travel and said it was a total hoax. Then a few years later, after Titor’s predictions didn’t occur, people agreed it was all just a stupid prank that had been instigated by a computer expert. However, after IBM engineer Bob Dubke was asked his opinion on Titor’s messages, he said that the information about the IBM 5100 ability to debug mainframe systems was correct, and that the information wasn’t available in 2000-2001.
