Unexplained Mysteries – Gelatinous Blobs
In 1994, a small township called Oakville, near Washington in the United States, experienced a heavy thunderstorm, and although the people had endured such storms in the past, they were shocked by the unexplained phenomena that accompanied the stormy weather. However, it wasn’t normal rain that fell, it was pieces of crystal clear gelatine-like blobs, and affected an area of approximately 20 square miles. The blobs were soft, very mushy and felt like jelly, and would squish into smaller pieces when squeezed by hand.
After these mysterious Gelatinous Blobs continued to rain down six times over a three-week period, many people in the community stated to become ill with flu-like symptoms and some family pets started dying from unidentified causes. In one case, after a woman became ill, the son took her to the local hospital, and on the way, he picked up a sample of the blobs so that the hospital could examine it. However, after the hospital Lab Technician couldn’t identify the substance, it was sent to the State Health Department in Washington for further testing. After the Health Laboratory Microbiologist, Mike McDowell, conducted a number of tests, he found that the blob had human-like white blood cells and contained two types of bacteria, with one of them usually found in a human digestive system. Some other people from Oakville, sent samples to the Amtest Labs, a private testing facility, and another Microbiologist, Tim Davis, reported that the blobs contained eukaryotic cells, usually found in animals. Both Microbiologists also reported that the substance was uniform, but didn’t contain a complete microscopic structure, and it was saturated with bacteria.
There were many experts, who were baffled as to how living matter would find its way into rain clouds, and some local townsfolk suspected that the gelatinous blobs might be part of a government experiment. They mentioned that prior to the mysterious event there were a number of military aircraft flying over the area including, low-flying black helicopters and, at other times, there were other aircraft letting things off in the air near Oakville. There were some, who went further, and accused the military of conducting experimental germ warfare exercises and recording the effects on the small community.
After further journalistic investigations, historical information was discovered dating back to 1979, and related to the unexplained appearance of some purple blobs in a resident’s yard in Frisco, Texas. However, it was thought that the incident wasn’t related, as the blobs were purple while the ones at Oakville were of a clear substance, and in both events, the blobs quickly evaporated and left no evidence. However, NASA managed to collect samples of the Texas substance for analysis, and announced that the purple blobs were probably caused by a meteor shower, but later they changed their opinion, and announced that the blobs were industrial waste. After checking some old archival records, reports mentioned gelatinous blobs falling in Europe many years ago, and referred to them as Interstellar Jelly or Rot from the Stars.
